Welcome to the Assignment: Writing Weblog!

This is the official weblog for the Yahoo! group Assignment: Writing! (assignmentwriting). Assignment: Writing! is a contest and critique group which welcomes writers and writing enthusiasts of all ages and levels of writing experience. The only requirement is a desire to improve your own writing and help others improve theirs!

Here's how it works: I post a short set of guidelines for writing a 500 word or less story, along with submission and voting deadlines. Writers are allowed to use any style, approach or genre to craft a story. I have to approve posts submitted to the group - which allows me to "intercept" the entries, cut and paste them into a new post and post them anonymously. Everyone who submits entries must critique at least one other entry. Then when we reach the submission deadline, all members of the group get to vote on their favorite (everyone hasto vote on someone else's work). And finally, the winner is revealed!

And that's what this blog is all about - here, you will be able to read the winning entries for each contest. I hope that you are inspired by these great little stories, and that you'll come and join in on the fun!
